Supernova

The composition of the artwork is inspired by the scene of the sun rising over the ocean. Ink and lines form the growth rings depicting the world in the painting. Growth rings are the memories of trees, which imprint the environmental transition through out the years. In the bright of the sunrise, a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly, implying the birth of life.
Zhuangzi said, "A fungus, living only one morning, does not know the waxing and waning of the moon; the cicada, living only one season, does not know the succession of springs and autumns. There is a sacred turtle, whose spring is 500 years. There was a giant Chun tree, whose autumn was 8,000 years." Perhaps everything can just be put in comparison like that. Just like a supernova in the universe. It explodes when its life ends. It illuminates the whole galaxy and triggers the birth of a new star. Every life probably goes around in cycles like that ── it ends at the beginning while begins at the end, repeatedly and eternally. |
